My Fiancé and I stayed in the Hoxton Shoreditch on December 12th last year (2009). We had been looking forward to it since we had stayed for one night in September also.

First off, we were delighted to see some of the same excellent staff on reception who had looked after us on our previous stay; this time we were spotted and looked after by Francis - what a complete gentleman. We were immediately struck by his courteous and friendly manner and his welcoming smile. He informed us that he room as not ready yet but we had expected that as we had arrived very early. He took our luggage to the storage area and off we went, unleashed on London for the day.

Over the course of the 24 hours we were there, we felt relaxed and comfortable and very much at home - helped in no small way by the excellent staff in the bar and the atmosphere in general.

The next morning we treated ourselves to a great breakfast in the restaurant and were reluctant to leave, but since we had to we proceeded to check out. Again Francis could not do enough for us, even trying to help me with locating a RC Church.

We hope to get back someting this year and have been spreading the word to anyone we know going to London.

This is the first time I have ever commented on a hotel's website or, in fact, on anyone's website, regarding service levels. But I feel that I must do so with this hotel. The level of service is really second to none. The staff here are friendly without it coming across as forced and have gone the extra mile for me during my time here. It is a hotel that has rules, but one that realises that it's customers come first. This is very rare. And this comes from someone that has stayed at many of the top "named" hotels in the world. Really first class and definitely a hotel to come back to.

Only grievance. Not enough vegetarian options on the menu!

I was lucky enough to get a £1 booking and took my husband for his 30th birthday. We left yesterday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay,we were sad to leave. The bed was very comfortable and the sitting area was nice and not cramped. We loved the bathroom and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Just to let you know we have had yet another wonderful stay at the Hoxton. We have stayed a few times each year since you opened on our visits to London to see our son and you have never failed us.

Our room is always perfect - always the extra pillows, fresh milk, waters etc in the room without having to ask. Gorgeous soft light duvet and squishy quality pillows. The tasty breakfast bag and the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. We were even asked in the lift how we were enjoying the stay and felt very valued. Staff went, as always, to every effort to make our stay perfect. This time we sampled the Hoxton Grill for lunch for the first time and that too was wonderful.

I have written on Tripadvisor several times and shall be doing so again.

Wanted to say a big thank you for the superb service. My husband and I stayed at your hotel last weekend for our nieces wedding. Coming from Canada, we were a little leary about the prices and the fact that we had to pay in advance, no refunds. But we were totally amazed by the quality of the hotel, great rooms, clean, comfortable etc. ALl great value for money..

But the service of the staff at the reception really topped the cake. They helped us work our way around the area, the city and then back to the airport. I will certainly recommend your hotel to friends and family. Thanks again for everything.

I stayed in your hotel for a friends birthday... so we ate, drank and slept in the hotel...It was amazing! I have stayed in many London hotels, this undoubtedly was the best stay. The rooms are gorgeous, the food delicious, and the staff extremely friendly.

My wife and I stayed with you for our 13th Wedding Anniversary just two days ago and couldn’t complain about anything. The room was fantastic and more than adequately furnished and equipped. Have just spent 4 nights in your marvellous hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We did our best to find something to complain about, but failed miserably! Stayed at the Hoxton for 2 nights over the weekend .. and I must say It was just fantastic. Came to London by myself for some shopping.. and after a day of hard-core shopping, coming back to the Hox was just all I could wish for. As a cabin crew member working for a major airline, travelling is what I do for a living. So I have a very critic eye... But everything was just perfect. From the comfy bed and linens to the wonderful staff ( really professional but still very laid-back). Their complimentary breakfast is a great service. But I really do recommend the eggs Benedict at their downstairs for breakfast. Luverly ! 10/10 Will. Go. Back. Soon.

We as a nation, are so quick to complain, we are slower complimenting. I felt necessary to let you know that we recently spent 2 nights at the Hoxton... I am always slightly disappointed and feel cheated whenever we stay at hotels, I am however so impressed by The Hoxton, you definitely stand by your brand statement of "Luxury where it matters and Budget where it counts". Thanks for your lovely mail. How does one make suggestions for improvement on a services which is perfect? Personally I do not know. Speaking for my team we did find the visit very exceptional. I stayed with you for the first time on the 9th of Jan as a direct result of your free room giveaway. I stay in a lot of hotels of all grades in the UK and Europe and I just wanted to say that I believe The Hoxton is simply one of the best there is. Luxury linen, power showers etc? are reasonably commonplace these days but I really appreciated the no nonsense, common sense customer service and realistic prices. The customer experience is way above many 5 star hotels. What really marks you ahead is that the staff all seem genuinely happy to be there! Congratulations, I will definitely be staying with you again PS I loved the free mineral water, proper coffee and the sign that tells you to take the soap home with you! The bed was VERY comfortable too

Dear Mr Taylor, I travel worldwide for business, and this is the first time I have written to a hotel regarding my stay. I had the great pleasure of staying at The Hoxton from 26 September - 2 October. If it could only have been longer! The Hoxton experience was truly one of the best, and you must understand that I had come to London directly from India, after having stayed at the Oberoi and Taj chains. The welcome at the Hoxton front desk was fantastic, and despite the fact that I had arrived early in the morning, your more than competent employee immediately checked to see if a room was available (without my having asked). She located a room and checked me in quickly. I was in London for a stressful business week, and I found the room to be perfectly organized as an 'away-from-the-office' office, and immaculately clean, which lessened my stress immediately. The lobby area was perfect for a meeting that I had set up in advance. The Hoxton's little extras facilitated my stay, as well, including the free Guardian in the lobby, the free WiFi, the kettle and tea/coffee, the free water, and the brilliant breakfast delivery idea. These are all necessary time savers for the business traveler, and well appreciated. Bravo! Above all, I would like to commend you on an attentive, pleasant, and fully capable staff. I have told many colleagues about The Hoxton. Thanks to your management and the excellence of the Hoxton team, I will be back in December- but this time for fun! Thank you. Vive le Hoxton!

At first we were hesitant about booking because we heard how expensive London was and your prices were so reasonable we were worried that it would be a dive. We were thrilled from the moment we arrived in the lobby until we left 2 days later and have recommended your hotel to others already. The hotel was spotlessly clean, was the only hotel with comfortable beds and lovely linens during our 2 week visit to England, the breakfast yogurt was delicious and the accessibility to internet was much appreciated. We would just like to say thank you
We would just like to thank you for a really great stay in your hotel last week-end. The staff were pleasant and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them, especially reception who gave us directions for sight seeing and maps etc. The room was lovely and the bed so comfy. Shower was great and all the extra little touches water in room, our Pret Brekky etc. were a real bonus. The fact that nothing was overpriced i.e. telephone calls, drinks in the bar and the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We loved our view of the Gherkin from the room. Incredibly great hotel for a great price
Second visit to the Hoxton and an incredibly great hotel for a great price. *****service, all staff are smiling and go out of their way to give you a comfortable feeling. The bar is superb and the drinks to take upstairs are a bargain. The rooms are just perfect and the neighbourhood rocks!!!! My next visit will be the August Bank Holiday. After staying in 4 and 5 star hotels at astronomic prices for years, I have now found my home away from home at The Hoxton. Thanks.

Stylish and quirky feel
What can we say...Our stay with you was Fantastic. We stayed with you on Friday evening on a recommendation from a friend. From the moment we arrived at your hotel to the time we left, our experience was faultless. Your staff were all pleasant and friendly and a joy to deal with, nothing was too much trouble for them. After our friday evening at the theatre, it was a greaty treat to have a DJ playing some fantastic tunes in the bar area, topped of a great Friday. The stylish and quirky look and feel of the hotel was fabulous. I have stayed in hotels which have cost me 3 to 4 times what i paid yet not had the service nor the feel of your welcoming hotel. I will definitely be recommending your hotel to everyone I know and will certainly be booking with you next time i visit the city. Funky and good value rooms in London
From me and my fellow hen nighters, I want to thank you all for making us feel really welcome and for all the bar staff not minding our hen night fun this Friday and Saturday night (we were the ones in the pink jackets or as some may remember our additional guest the inflatable man!). I didn?t want the usual basic hotel for my hen weekend and we were all more than impressed with the hotel rooms and the bar and restaurant. I will definitley be coming back again and will recommend you to anyone planning to stay in London who wants something a bit funky and very good value!

Fantastic service!
We spent last Friday Night at you wonderfull hotel to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary ( and our first time away from our children yikes!) We had managed to get a ?1 room but if we had doubts about what this was going to get us they were soon quashed by the fantastic service we got from your staff and the lovely room! My mum, sister and I recently had a fantastic stay at your hotel. It was all that your website promised and more...your staff (reception, cleaning, bar) were incredibly friendly and helpful. The comfort of our rooms, the friendliness of staff and the great food/friendly staff in the Grille all added up to a fantastic trip. Fantastic hotel and lovely rooms

Perfect for a relaxed weekend break
Thank you for a lovely stay the weekend of 2nd February for my 30th birthday. We were recommended this hotel by a work friend of mine. The quickest and simplest check in we have ever experienced in London. Room was fantastic, my boyfriend wanted to take home the cushions on the bed and the shower was simply amazing. Standard of cleanliness was fantastic and we loved the Pret breakfast, what a lovely gesture to guests. We had a great meal at the Grille on Sunday night and our waiter was fantastic, very prompt with our food and drinks and very polite too. We then stayed in the Bar drinking cocktails mixed by your lovely bar staff, very relaxed weekend break, the hotel really made it, it was totally up our street :-) Will definitely be coming back and recommending you to our friends. Little things make a big difference
Absolutely fantastic! Just returned from our ?1 room overnight stay (Saturday 2) and just wanted to express how wonderful the Hoxton is. Fabulous reception staff, very friendly and welcoming. Gorgeous bedroom and a very comfy bed! Tremendous bathroom and I wanted to take the shower home with me as it was sooooo good! Lovely touch with the fresh milk and the fridge, it?s the little things that make a big difference. Will definitely be back for another stay with you, whether at ?1, ?29 or whatever the rate may be! Efficient ?1 Promotion
Re: ?1 sale Thank you for organising an efficient promotion today. Even though you mention the pressure the booking system was under, the system appeared to perform much better than on previous occasions with fewer failed connections and frozen screens, and I appreciate the very prompt email confirmations sent out. These enabled me to see I had unintentionally been ?lucky? 3 times and was able to telephone to cancel the extra bookings. The only main problem I encountered was that I had been successful making two bookings but did not see a confirmation on the screen at the time (the system times out), causing me to assume I had been unsuccessful and try again. Good luck with your continued efforts to raise the profile of your excellent hotel.

Cutting edge design
Just got back from what can only be described as a fantastic stay at The Hoxton. The hotel is at the cutting edge of design without drifting into pretension, a quality only demonstrated in a few London hotels. The rooms were absolutely fantastic, the shower was an absolute pleasure! Little touches such as the ?Hox Guide? allowed us to enjoy the local area to the full. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was great value and even small things such as the Pringles were not over-priced!!! All-in-all an extremely nice stay. We will be back again very soon!

My top place to stay!
Hi. I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for such a fantastic stay. We stayed at the Hoxton for the first time on January 4th for two nights and we had a thoroughly great time! From the minute we arrived we were made to feel more than welcome. We loved the atmosphere of the whole place and you were all so friendly. Very relaxed and laid back but genuinely friendly and attentive and not at all patronising. Our room, (240, i think) was great. Cool, trendy and spacious and had a great bathroom and good view out onto Great Eastern Street. The location was great. Perfect for Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Up Market etc. On the morning of Sunday 6th when we checked out we were really impressed to discover that your luggage room was very secure and FREE and you assured us that we would be able to pick up our bags at any time (our train was not until 9pm), allowing us to have another stress free day having fun in my fave city without having to worry about dragging luggage around with us, or checking on the time! The Hoxton Grille was also a great place to eat and the ?7 menu was a really good idea. Overall the Hoxton has a great concept and was excellent value for money. PLEASE, PLEASE keep this going as you are now officially my top place to stay. I will definitely be returning when i?m next in London. Once again thank you and kind regards. Stephen. X

The Perfect Hotel
The Perfect Hotel! I was inclined to attempt to write a detailed account of what impressed me about the Hoxton, but can?t say much more than has been said already by other guests. From the moment we walked into the Lobby, we felt like we?d arrived at home. Every detail in every part of the hotel has been thought through and is executed to perfection - nothing felt like a hassle, nothing was done for effect. If I could find a Hoxton hotel in every destination I went to, I?d never stay anywhere else again!

Everything rocked about this hotel.
I didn?t fill out a card in the room, but this is what I filled out on tripadvisor - thought I would share with the world my love for your hotel. Thanks for a fab stay. We will be back for certain. I have to admit I didn?t want to review this hotel because I didn?t want to share it, but I see that I am too late... I wanted to ensure that I always have a room to stay at this hotel/urban lodge. I am really not sure where to begin, the hotel is overwhelmingly cool. The ground floor has an uber cool loungy area, a fabulous restaurant, free internet (not the cheap crap computers either, but super fast connection, flat screens etc), a gallery space and mostly a swank/posh feel to it all. Be warned, it is not only hotel guests that frequent the restaurant/lounge but scads of locals, it is advisable to make a booking (they do room service as well). I have never been to a hotel where every detail has been so thoughtfully and artfully executed. The rooms are super fun, super clean, and super cool. The washroom in our room was lovely black granite, and was spectacular and enormous. This was by far the comfiest bed of my entire 5 week trip, they didn?t cheap out on mattresses or pillows - they are comfy and lofty. The duvet rocked, it was heavy and down filled and CLEAN - I actually didn?t want to leave the bed, it was fabulous! The room is decorated with murals of London, the beds have super fun rock-paper-scissor pillows, and the sofa in the room is velvety and funky. Breakfast of course has been creatively thought up as well, they have partnered with pret-a-manger to serve simple breakfast fare. There are paper bags in the rooms, you fill out how many in the party, and your choices and leave it on the door, and in the morning they have hung the bag with food in it back on your door. Of course, the restaurant also serves breakfast, but for people like me who were on our way to a marathon that is Heathrow it was extremely efficient. I would say the most thoughtful thing that they have done is dream up ??The Hox Guide??, which is a little fold out of all the cool things to do within walking distance. I am a bit of a foodie, and I was impressed that they had a dining guide... we went to one of the suggested locations and had probably one of the best pizza?s EVER! The Hox Guide listed restaurants, Bars & Pubs, Coffee stops (thank you), Clubs, Venues and Galleries, Places of Interest and Shopping. I was seriously impressed by this guide which included a map where all locations were marked off, it was brilliant (nice to not to have to rely on the Lonely Planet). Lastly, as above it was all in the details that this place excels, the flat screen TV?s are located in a beautiful wardrobe - not hanging off the wall where you are afraid to knock them off as you brush past them. There was a drawer which contained fun coffee?s, teas,blow dryer etc. all items laid out carefully and labelled. There was a sign which pointed you in the direction of the fridge which had a 250ml carton of fresh milk for tea and coffee (none of the rubbish that you find at other hotels). Everything rocked about this hotel. I hope they branch out and open more hotels.

Healthy breakfast and delightful towels
4 girls from Oslo, Norway had a very nice stay at your fantastic hotel. We loved this hotel: We paid a very good price; 1200 NOK a person for 3 nights (a bargain !!), the rooms were so clean and lovely, beautiful bathroom with enough space for two girls. Delightful, very large and thick towels, and healthy breakfast delivered at the door. We got a lot of help from the staff to all our questions on shopping, sightseeing and everything else ! 5 min walk to the metro, supermarket across the street and free Internet at the reception. We actually had two dinners at your terrific modern restaurant, we also had dinner in a lovely sushi restaurant 200 m down the street, just perfect! Had some hot chocolate by the fireplace in the reception-area before returning to the airport. We will definitely come back to this hotel, I?ve allready recommended it to all my friends.

Superb Hotel - reasonably priced
What a brilliant hotel, I stayed at your hotel for two nights (the 11th and 12th of November) and it was lovely from start to finish. Friendly staff on the front desk, beautiful hotel - wonderfully clean. Perfectly formed rooms fitted with absolutely everything you need and more - just can?t praise what you are doing enough!! Very reasonably priced - the hotel is superb, but it really is the staff that gives it the edge. keep it up and thank you very much for a lovely couple of days.

Value for money
I am a uk citizen who has lived in the US for the past 10 years. Whilst visiting my family in London I had the pleasure of staying at the Hoxton. Wonderful location great rooms very well designed and wonderful service and food. The best surprise is that it is great value for money which London is not famous for. I just hope that the great success that this Hotel is going to be does not push the prices up to crazy levels
